Kate and Grant met in college through a mutual friend — she was at SMU, he was at TCU. They like to joke that they dated long-distance (if you count the 40 miles between Dallas and Fort Worth), navigating campus rivalries and I-30 traffic to see each other most weekends. Despite the occasional Mustang vs. Horned Frog debate, things clicked quickly and never stopped.

A few years after graduation, they moved to Austin together and settled into a life they love, filled with patio dinners at Matt’s El Rancho, long walks with their dog Willie, and plenty of trips to Zilker Park.

Vail has always been special to them. It's where they go to ski, hike, unwind, and feel most at home. In June 2025, during a summer trip, Grant surprised Kate by taking her on a hike, then leading her to a lookout spot with a perfect view of the Mount of the Holy Cross, and then proposed.

They’re so excited to return to that same mountain to celebrate with the people they love most. Willie will be there too, proudly serving as ring bearer (assuming he cooperates)!
